Club & Brewer Notes:
Jet black and onyx in a mirror-like sheen, Irish Goodnight builds a creamy skirt of froth that leaves the beer looking quite espresso-like. As its roasty scent rolls off of the foam, a strong presence of espresso, cocoa, caramel, nuttiness and Irish whisky spice greet the nose. With the first sip. the beer's intense caramelization trends molasses-like with brown sugar, toffee and gently burnt cream. The immense stout retains a surprising amount of its Irish Stout roots. Its milk sugars act as a balancing agent for the alcohol and wood spices while hints of dark, charred and stone fruits simmer gently as the dark ale warms. A long extension of whisky laden coffee relegates the beer to a slow sipping session, likely sharable among a few friends.
