The holidays are over and the weather has cooled off (a little), so it's time for our next meeting! KJ has volunteered his house for the upcoming festivities. Members who are not bringing beer should bring snacks or a side dish to compliment steaks, which Dennis plans on cooking for club members if we have enough folks who wish to participate. For those of you near Randolph, Fatboy is offering a carpool service.

This beer is a Belgain-style IPA that is brewed with a combination of pale, pilsner, and wheat malts. It is hopped in the brewhouse and dry hopped in the aging tank with German Hallertau Blanc hops. This gives the beer a strong but pleasant bitterness and an aroma of grapes and fruit. A Belgian yeast strain is used and this imparts a fruity and estery aroma. Shmaltz Bock Bock has spent months in a blend of bourbon barrels, including Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, and Buffalo Trace. “Barrel-aged Bock Bock gains its toasty, rich malt body and nutty caramel flavor from distinctive European malts, such as Vienna, Munich and Crystal, to make a traditional bock base,” said Shmaltz Brewing Company’s Lead Brewer Richie Saunders.

Out of all the breweries, in all of the towns and in all the world... she walks into mine. She was mysterious and exotic with hints of European lineage including rich, regal malty backbone, complex mild caramel and toasted bread notes. Fruity esters on the nose hinted of playfulness in fermentation among the multiple yeast strains being used. Teases of coconut and spicy Jamaican rum from the time spent barrel aging told me she had a dark mischievous side. She was trouble and I knew it, but she was playing the Damsel and I’m a sucker for playing the hero. So I fell for it; hook, line and sinker....
